BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY — BEST PRACTICE
INDUSTRY CONDITIONS POLICY — ROE HIGHWAY INTERCHANGES
1183. Hon NEIL THOMSON to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to the ongoing civil works
including but not limited to Hale Road and Welshpool Road–Roe Highway
interchanges.
(1) Will these
works be subject to best practice industry conditions?
(2) Why does the
BPIC document require that head contractors and key subcontractors must consult
with the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union 28 days prior to
awarding work to any other contractor?
(3) Has the
minister or the department undertaken any modelling on the cost increases
resulting from the application of BPIC?
(4) If no to (3),
why not?
(5) If yes to
(3), what are those costs likely to be for the two projects that were announced
for tender on 14 October?
