I refer the Attorney General to the introduction of federal legislation today to control abuses by the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union, and the CFMEU’s threatened industrial action in response. I further refer to the secret volume of the report of the Cole royal commission handed down in May 2003, and to the subsequent correspondence of the federal Attorney-General, which referred possible criminal matters to the relevant state ministers and agency heads in accordance with the commissioner’s recommendations. Can the Attorney General please advise - (1) What action has been taken by the Government in response to the matters referred to by the federal Attorney-General? (2) Have any of these matters been referred to the police and/or the Director of Public Prosecutions for investigation, and have any charges been laid as a result? Mr J.A. McGINTY
