I refer to ‘the Extraordinary Taxi Ride’, and the taxi used in this campaign, and I ask -
(1) Will any modifications be made to the taxi given that some of the route is on unsealed roads?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) If yes to (1), what is the projected cost of those modifications?
(4) Who will pay for the modifications?
(5) Who will pay for any repairs to the taxi once the ‘Extraordinary Taxi Ride’ is completed?

(1)  Yes, the Ford Falcon taxi has been modified to include a Smartbar on the front of the vehicle. Most of the time the taxi will travel on well maintained roads suitable for two wheel drives. Where it needs to use roads recommended for four wheel drives, a four wheel drive vehicle will take its place.
(2)  Not applicable.
(3)  The cost to add the Smartbar to the vehicle was $5 850.
(4)  Tourism Western Australia paid for this modification.
(5)  Any repairs required during and after the journey will be paid by Tourism Western Australia or arranged through the vehicle's insurance provider, depending on the nature of the repairs.
