The Minister Replied:
(1) The names and locations of each of the child health centres, owned and maintained by local government, and including those owned and maintained by agencies such as the Country Women's Association and Silver Chain Nursing Association, that are staffed and resourced by the Health Department of Western Australia, Metropolitan Health Services Board or Rural Health Services are provided in the attached list of 335 centres recorded for the year 1999/2000.
(2) It is not possible to provide accurate information about centres that were open or opened for the period requested as prior to 1999/2000, no reliable information was collected about child health centres as they are, and continue to be, managed by local government. Some child health nurses provide a service from premises owned by other agencies.
In August 1999 the Executive Services Division of the Health Department of Western Australia commenced coordination of statewide timetable information for child health nurses and the centres where they work. The information was sought from and is updated by managers of community health staff employed by rural and metropolitan health services.
The names and locations of the child health centres that were open or opened during 1999/2000 are provided in the attached list of 335 centres referred to in Question 1.
(3) As the health system does not manage child health centres, and the Health Department of Western Australia has only recently commenced maintaining a State timetable for child health nurses working in such centres, it is not possible to provide reliable information about child health centres that were closed prior to 1999/2000.
Child health centres closed during 1999/2000 were Kallaroo Child Health Centre and North Dandalup CWA Hall. Centres relocated include Neerabup (now Banksia Grove), Wittenoom Street Collie (now Forrest Street), Marine Terrace Geraldton (now Chapman Road) and Thomas Street Boyanup.
(4) It is not possible to provide accurate information about average opening hours for child health centres for the period requested as prior to 1999/2000, no reliable information was collected about child health centres as they are, and continue to be, managed by local government.
There are 135 centres in the metropolitan area and 200 centres in rural areas. The average opening hours a week for each of these child health centres for 1999/2000 is 22.88 hours in the metropolitan area and 14.35 hours in rural areas.
Centres may be open in the morning, afternoon or both. As the actual opening and closing times vary with each centre, a time of 3.5 hours was assigned to a half day.
(5) The average weekly opening hours for each of the child health centres budgeted for in 2000/2001 are the same as those indicated in Question 4.
(6) It is not possible to provide accurate information about opening hours of child health centres for the period requested as prior to 1999/2000, no reliable information was collected about child health centres as they are, and continue to be, managed by local government.
The total opening hours for a child health centre staffed by a child health nurse not including the midwifery early discharge program, are 1189.76 hours per centre per annum on average for centres in the metropolitan area and 746.2 hours per centre per annum for centres in rural areas.
(7) The annual opening hours for each of the child health centres staffed by a child health nurse budgeted for 2000/2001 are the same as those indicated in Question 6.

(1) The names and locations of each of the child health centres, owned and maintained by local government, and including those owned and maintained by agencies such as the Country Women's Association and Silver Chain Nursing Association, that are staffed and resourced by the Health Department of Western Australia, Metropolitan Health Services Board or Rural Health Services are provided in the attached list of 335 centres recorded for the year 1999/2000.
(2) It is not possible to provide accurate information about centres that were open or opened for the period requested as prior to 1999/2000, no reliable information was collected about child health centres as they are, and continue to be, managed by local government. Some child health nurses provide a service from premises owned by other agencies.
In August 1999 the Executive Services Division of the Health Department of Western Australia commenced coordination of statewide timetable information for child health nurses and the centres where they work. The information was sought from and is updated by managers of community health staff employed by rural and metropolitan health services.
The names and locations of the child health centres that were open or opened during 1999/2000 are provided in the attached list of 335 centres referred to in Question 1.
(3) As the health system does not manage child health centres, and the Health Department of Western Australia has only recently commenced maintaining a State timetable for child health nurses working in such centres, it is not possible to provide reliable information about child health centres that were closed prior to 1999/2000.
Child health centres closed during 1999/2000 were Kallaroo Child Health Centre and North Dandalup CWA Hall. Centres relocated include Neerabup (now Banksia Grove), Wittenoom Street Collie (now Forrest Street), Marine Terrace Geraldton (now Chapman Road) and Thomas Street Boyanup.
(4) It is not possible to provide accurate information about average opening hours for child health centres for the period requested as prior to 1999/2000, no reliable information was collected about child health centres as they are, and continue to be, managed by local government.
There are 135 centres in the metropolitan area and 200 centres in rural areas. The average opening hours a week for each of these child health centres for 1999/2000 is 22.88 hours in the metropolitan area and 14.35 hours in rural areas.
Centres may be open in the morning, afternoon or both. As the actual opening and closing times vary with each centre, a time of 3.5 hours was assigned to a half day.
(5) The average weekly opening hours for each of the child health centres budgeted for in 2000/2001 are the same as those indicated in Question 4.
(6) It is not possible to provide accurate information about opening hours of child health centres for the period requested as prior to 1999/2000, no reliable information was collected about child health centres as they are, and continue to be, managed by local government.
The total opening hours for a child health centre staffed by a child health nurse not including the midwifery early discharge program, are 1189.76 hours per centre per annum on average for centres in the metropolitan area and 746.2 hours per centre per annum for centres in rural areas.
(7) The annual opening hours for each of the child health centres staffed by a child health nurse budgeted for 2000/2001 are the same as those indicated in Question 6.
