With regard to the Marine Parks and Reserves Authority, I ask: (a) when will the Conservation and Parks Commission become operational; (b) will the Conservation and Parks Commission have financial functions or will the Department of Parks and Wildlife continue to meet all costs relating to honoraria, travel costs and day-to-day operating costs; and (c) will the Conservation and Parks Commission have its own executive support?

(a) The establishment of a new amalgamated body combining the Marine Parks and Reserves Authority and the Conservation Commission the proposed Parks and Conservation Commission requires amendments to the
Conservation and Land Management Act 1984
which are currently being drafted.
(b)-(c) It is intended that the new body Commission will operate similarly to the current Conservation Commission of Western Australia and Marine Parks and Reserves Authority in that financial and employment functions will be through the Department of Parks and Wildlife.
