RAINBOW COAST NEIGHBOURHOOD CENTRE
941. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Minister for Community Services:
I refer to the funding of the Rainbow Coast Neighbourhood Centre Inc
and its recent dispute with former employee Kylie Wood.
(1) Is the minister aware of whether the
money spent by the centre to engage an agent to represent it in the WA
Industrial Relations Commission or to meet any other costs arising from the
cases came from funds provided from either the recurrent or grant funding from
the Department for Communities?
(2) If the funding for costs associated with
defending the actions taken by Ms Wood did come from the Department for Communities'
funding, is that expenditure consistent with the funding contract?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. On behalf of the Minister
for Community Services —
(1) Yes, I am aware of the allegation. I have
been advised that the Department for Communities has investigated the matter
and found there is no evidence to suggest that the department's funding
was used for costs relating to industrial or legal action.
(2) Not applicable.
