EAST PERTH POWER STATION SITE — EXPRESSIONS
OF INTEREST
995. Hon SAMANTHA ROWE to the Minister
for Planning:
I refer to the East Perth power
station site and to question without notice 903, which was answered on
Thursday, 8 September 2016.
(1) What is the
total amount paid to date to each of following external advisers for work associated
with the expression of interest process—CBRE, Deloitte, Herbert Smith
Freehills and PricewaterhouseCoopers?
(2) Prior to 8
September 2016, when did the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority and Western
Power last discuss the switchyard relocation?
(3) What is the expected cost of the
switchyard relocation?
(4) Other than the switchyard, what
other site constraints are hampering the development process?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice
of the question.
(1) The total amount paid to the
four external advisers to date is $177 785.19, including GST.
(2) I am advised
that Western Power representatives presented to the Land Asset Management
Advisory Group, of which the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority is a member,
on 26 August 2016.
(3) Western Power
is in the process of preparing a feasibility study to determine the
requirements for essential upgrades to its system, including the relocation of
the switchyard on the East Perth power station site. As such, this question should
be redirected to the Minister for Energy.
(4) A number of
site constraints would need to be appropriately dealt with as part of the
development of the site. These include the investigation of any residual
remediation and contamination, the existing gas gate valve, overhead powerlines
and the site's heritage requirements.
