FREMANTLE TRAIN STATION - U-RAILS
Further to question without notice 866 on 27 September relating to storage space for bicycles at Fremantle train station, it is evident that usage of the “Lock ‘n’ Ride” secure facility, which is locked between 9.00 am and 3.30 pm on weekdays, is well patronised, with capacity for further uptake - 54 bike places were available at 8.45 this morning. My question relates to the shortage of bike U-rails on the platform for short stay commuters who drop off or pick up their bikes between the locked hours of 9.00 am and 3.30 pm. There are a total of 16 U-rails on the platform. At 8.30 am these were fully taken with 32 bikes; one bike was chained to a platform fence. Will the minister act to install additional U-rails to meet the needs of short-stay commuters who drop off and collect their bikes between the hours of 9.00 am and 3.30 pm? Hon ADELE FARINA
