I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)-(4) I have been considering the need to further research Western Australian farmers’ attitudes to genetically modified crops. Indeed, the Department of Agriculture is currently in the process of obtaining quotations to undertake a telephone survey. However, I am aware of recent farmer surveys by the South Australian Farmers Federation, the Kondinin Group and, indeed, Hon Dee Margetts’ survey of last year on the attitudes to GM crops in the wider rural community. I understand that Biotechnology Australia is proposing a national survey of farmers’ attitudes to GM crops.
