PILBARA CITIES — PORT HEDLAND WASTE WATER TREATMENT PLANT
I have a supplementary question. How come this week the minister was able to announce in Busselton some $23 million to reorganise the waste water treatment plant there, yet he has not been able to respond to an urgent challenge in Port Hedland that would facilitate the transformation of that town? Dr G.G. JACOBS

It seems like this is another question, but I will answer it. There are many requirements and demands on the minister, not only from the Pilbara. As the minister, I am the member for Busselton and I am the member for Western Australia! Several members interjected. Dr G.G. JACOBS : As the minister, I represent Nedlands as well, because it is about water for the state. It is about strategy and it is about the demands. The waste water treatment plant in Busselton is very important infrastructure. We have known for some time about the impact of the discharge from the waste water treatment and the impact of nutrients in the estuary and the waterways. It is a very important consideration. Mr T.G. Stephens : The Pilbara is pretty important, minister! Dr G.G. JACOBS : There are demands everywhere, member for Pilbara! It is about prioritising and meeting those needs, and I will continue to work hard on those priorities.
