I refer to the Office of the Environmental Protection Authority (OEPA) and ask: (a) while reducing the number of levels of OEPA assessment from five to two, has the number of permits required to open a mine increased; (b) is the Minister considering a requirement for works approvals and licences for mining and petroleum activities to be incorporated into the mining and petroleum approvals processes; and (c) if not why not?

(a) I am not in a position to answer whether the number of permits to open a mine has increased or decreased. This is a question better directed to the Minister for Mines.
(b) No
(c) Works approvals and licences for emissions relating to mining and petroleum activities are already regulated under Part V Division 3 of the Environmental Protection Act 1986.
