BULLSBROOK
TOWN SITE AND RURAL STRATEGY
903. Hon
ALISON XAMON to the minister representing the Minister for Planning:
I refer to the Bullsbrook town site and rural strategy, which
was endorsed by the City of Swan in 2008 but has yet to be approved by the
Western Australian Planning Commission.
(1) Why has the BTRS not been approved by the WAPC?
(2) What needs to occur before the WAPC will approve the
strategy?
(3) When is it anticipated that the WAPC will approve the
strategy?

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1)–(2)
The Western Australian Planning Commission determination of the Bullsbrook town
site and rural strategy has been deferred pending the preparation of a
subregional structure plan for the north east corridor. This strategy will
provide essential guidance on the urban expansion of Bullsbrook, servicing
infrastructure requirements, bushfire risk, and environmental assessment, to
enable a decision to be made in a strategic context.
(3) The north
east corridor subregional structure plan is being prepared by the Department of
Planning, and the draft Bullsbrook town site and rural strategy is one suite of
documents informing this process. It is anticipated that the structure plan
will be released for public comment in mid-2013. The draft Bullsbrook town site
and rural strategy may require review or modification following the
finalisation of the structure plan.
