FAMILY AND
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE REFUGE SERVICES
931. Hon ALANNA CLOHESY to the
Minister for Child Protection:
I refer to Minister Morton's
article in The West Australian newspaper on Monday, 7 September 2015 and to the statement that this year the
government will spend $34.5 million directly on this preventable problem on
refuges, counselling and other responses.
(1) How much of this funding will be
spent on —
(a) refuges;
(b) counselling;
(c) prevention measures; and
(d) other responses?
(2) What are the other responses in
relation to frontline services?
(3) How much of the funding is a new
allocation of money?

AnswerView source ↗

I really thank the member for the
question.
(1) The amounts spent will be —
(a) $23 344 922;
(b) $5 573 627;
(c) $2 121 740; and
(d) $3 641 540.
(2) The action
plan ''Freedom from Fear: Working towards the elimination of family and
domestic violence in Western Australia'' outlines 20 new actions and
strategies for responding to family and domestic violence, focusing in
particular on engaging and responding to perpetrators. I table a copy of the
action plan for the honourable member.
(3) More than
$1 million in new funding has been allocated for the Ellenbrook refuge and the
24/7 emergency coordination response services. I will also be making further
funding announcements in the next few weeks regarding other initiatives under
the Freedom From Fear action plan, in particular the one to do with the
Kimberley.
