I refer to the 2012-13 Budget Statements that identifies 'reviewing environmental policies and guidelines to ensure they are relevant and consistent with contemporary requirements' as a significant issue impacting the Office of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), and ask —
(1) Which environmental policy areas are specifically referred to in this statement?
(2) Is the EPA's policy and guidance statement on the mitigation of carbon pollution 'relevant and consistent with contemporary requirements'?
(3) If no to (2), when will this policy be reviewed by the EPA?

(1) The statement refers to the EPA's statutory responsibility to provide policy guidance and strategic advice on environmental protection matters generally and to review existing policies, on a priority basis, to ensure they remain contemporary and relevant.
(2) The EPA recognises that Guidance Statement 12 - Minimising Greenhouse Gas Emissions requires review to reflect the introduction of the Commonwealth Government's carbon pricing scheme. The EPA will review its position with respect to Guidance Statement 12 during the current financial year.
