In relation to competition for regional water needs and the Government’s plans to tap a further 45 GL from the South West Yarragadee, I ask -
(1) How many current applications are there for water extraction from the South West Yarragadee?
(2) What volumes of water are involved?
(3) Would the Minister please table the details of the licence applications, including -
(a) the schedule;
(b) their volume;
(c) the purpose for the licences; and
(d) the names of the applicants?
(4) What is the current level of allocation of the South West Yarragadee?
(5) How does this fit with the Government’s plans to tap a further 45 GL from the Yarragdee?

(4) As of 3 April 2007, current total allocations from the Yarragadee aquifer are 83.5 GL/yr. This has been reduced from the initial 90 GL/yr through the Department of Water's recent recouping activities. The current allocations consists of 75GL/yr licensed entitlements and 8.5 Gl/yr in reserved water for future public water supply. (5) The Government has not supported the Water Corporation drawing a further 45 GL/yr from the South West Yarragadee.
