PIG STOCKFEED — ZINC OXIDE CONTAMINATION
My question relates to the question I asked the minister yesterday. (1) Will the minister table any corrections to the answers he provided yesterday to question without notice 463? (2) Can the minister please advise why the Department of Agriculture and Food did not make the Department of Health aware of this issue until 18 April 2008? Hon KIM CHANCE

(1) I would be very happy to table the answers that Hon Anthony Fels referred to; the problem is that he has the only copy at the moment. I thank Hon Anthony Fels for his cooperation in assisting me in tabling the matter referred to. (2) The Department of Health was advised on 10 March 2008. From the information I have before me, that notification followed the confirmation of the suspected source of the material from the Chemistry Centre (WA), where the feed samples had been tested on behalf of the Department of Agriculture and Food. Once the confirmation was to hand, the Department of Agriculture and Food could then inform the Department of Health of the source of the contamination. From the information before me, that seems to be a logical sequence of events.
