RUSSIAN WHEAT APHID
773. Hon DARREN WEST to the parliamentary
secretary representing the Minister for Agriculture and Food:
I refer to the threat of Russian
wheat aphid to the WA grains industry.
(1) Has there
been any reporting of the Russian wheat aphid in Western Australia; and, if
yes, which properties have been infected?
(2) Should there
be any incursions of the aphid into WA, who will be responsible for the
management of any outbreak?

house that this question was actually presented on 16 August. As such, the
answer is as follows —
(1) No.
(2) A draft
contingency plan for Russian wheat aphid has been developed that proposes
action and responsibility for the Department of Agriculture and Food Western Australia
and industry.
