The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) collects data from approximately 1600 agencies across Australia. Data relates to individual clients of specialist homelessness agencies, their characteristics, and the support they receive.
AIHW advise that due to the confidentiality provisions in Section 29 of the AIHW Act, for the release of the individual agency information, permission needs to be sought from the individual agencies themselves.
The Department for Child Protection and Family Support (DCPFS) sought permission from the four services to release the requested data.
(1) To date Marninwarntikura Women's Shelter in Fitzroy Crossing has not provided permission for the data to be release.
(2) Munga Tharndu Maya Women's Shelter in Roebourne reported:
(a) 2 referrals in 2010-11.
(b) 2 referrals in 2011-12.
(c) 7 referrals in 2012-13.
(d) July to December 2013 data was not provided.
(3) To date Ngaringga Ngurra Safe House in Halls Creek has not provided permission for the data to be release.
(4) Ngnowar Aerwah Safe House in Wyndham reported:
(a) 0 referrals from the Department in 2010-11.
(b) 2 referrals from the Department in 2011-12.
(c) 7 referrals from the Department in 2012-13.
(d) July to December 2013 data was not provided.
As many women access the service in an emergency, WA Police would facilitate the referral. Although DCPFS provide assistance, these would not be recorded as DCPFS referrals.
