ENERGY SMART POLICY
I ask this question about Energy Smart government policy on behalf of Hon Ray Halligan. (1) What was the stationary energy consumption, stationary energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions associated with the use of that energy for each financial year between 2001-2002 to 2006-2007 inclusive of government sector agencies with 25 or more full-time equivalents? (2) Was an annual report for the Energy Smart program tabled for the 2006-07 financial year; if not, why not, and will the minister table the report immediately? (3) Did the government successfully reduce stationary energy consumption by 12 per cent between 2001 and 2006-07? (4) Has the Carpenter government committed to the second phase of the Energy Smart policy? Hon KIM CHANCE

I thank Hon Ray Halligan for providing some notice of the question. (1) Details of stationary energy consumption, stationary energy costs and greenhouse gas emissions reported for agencies participating in the Energy Smart government program are in the Energy Smart government reports for 2002-03, 2003-04, 2004-05, and 2005-06 that have been tabled in Parliament and are available from the Parliamentary Library and the Sustainable Energy Development Office. Data for 2006-07 has not yet been released. (2) The 2006-07 report of the Energy Smart government program has not yet been tabled in Parliament. The reporting of data by agencies was delayed due to issues caused by the transition to a new on-line national reporting tool in 2007. This in turn caused the delay in the development of the Energy Smart government report for 2006-07; however, the report will be tabled shortly. (3) Details of the results for 2006-07 will be available from the 2006-07 report when it is tabled. (4) Details of the second phase of the program are currently being finalised.
