I refer to testing for illicit and prescription drugs on mine sites in the Collie region and ask: (a) how many drug tests were carried out on coal mines in the Collie region in: (i) 2012; (ii) 2013; (iii) 2014; and (iv) 2015 to date; (b) how many positive tests were recorded at coal mines in the Collie region in: (i) 2012; (ii) 2013; (iii) 2014; and (iv) 2015 to date; (c) how many employees with the postcode 6225 returned positive tests at said mines in: (i) 2012; (ii) 2013; (iii) 2014; and (iv) 2015 to date; (d) how many employees with a postcode other than 6225 returned positive tests at said mines in: (i) 2012; (ii) 2013; (iii) 2014; and (iv) 2015 to date; (e) how many positive tests were recorded for methamphetamine and other amphetamine derivatives at said mines in: (i) 2012; (ii) 2013; (iii) 2014; and (iv) 2015 to date; and (f) what percentage of positive tests were for methamphetamine and other amphetamine derivatives at said mines in: (i) 2012; (ii) 2013; (iii) 2014; and (iv) 2015 to date?

The Department of Mines and Petroleum (DMP) advises:
DMP has investigated their records with regard to your questions. Details of drug tests or positive results have not been provided to the Department by coal or other mining companies in the region as there is no specific requirement to do so under the
Mines Safety and Inspection Act 1994
.
It is understood that the coal mining companies in the region have drug and alcohol policies and records which include random testing of employees and contractors and causal testing following incidents on site.
The implementation of Drug and Alcohol procedures and practices is verified by Mines Inspectors during site visits, audits and investigations, although the detail of any testing is not collected by DMP.
