1394. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the
Minister for Mental Health:
I refer to the fire at the mental health unit at Rockingham General
Hospital and the minister's response to question without notice 1221.
(1) What was the inpatient bed capacity of the unit prior to
the fire occurring?
(2) What is the current bed capacity and occupancy rate of
the unit?
(3) How many patients are currently awaiting transfer to the
unit from other hospitals?
(4) Are
repairs still on track for recommissioning by 30 November 2015, and when is the
unit expected to be back at full capacity?
(5) How many
mental health patients presenting to the Rockingham hospital emergency
department since 1 September 2015 have been either declined admission or
transferred to another facility for treatment?

(1) It is 30 beds.
(2) Currently, it is 22 beds with an
occupancy rate of 100 per cent.
(3) Five patients are receiving treatment at other hospitals
while building works are being completed.
(4) The building work is anticipated to be completed by early
December 2015.
(5) No
patients have been declined admission; and 58 patients have been transferred to
other facilities for treatment.
