DEPARTMENT OF INDUSTRY AND RESOURCES — PIPELINE INTEGRITY ON VARANUS ISLAND
I have a supplementary question. Can the minister confirm that neither he nor his ministerial office received any notification about a lack of resources to cover the responsibilities of the Department of Industry and Resources, and/or its inability to secure a pipeline engineer? The SPEAKER : Only the first part of the question appears to me to be supplementary. Mr F.M. LOGAN

On the first point raised by the Leader of the Opposition, I have just indicated to him that we have not received any advice about any services needed for inspections of offshore or onshore facilities. The other day I indicated to both the member for Darling Range and the member for Capel that the government has contracted out those services to the National Offshore Petroleum Safety Authority, which is undertaking the investigation today.
