I refer to the appointment of coordinators at child and
parent centres.
(1) What was the process of appointment for those
coordinators?
(2) Were the
non-government organisations making those appointments required to follow any
particular process?
(3) Were the non-government
organisations required to consult with and involve school leaders in the
process of appointment of the coordinators?
(4) What
reporting mechanisms are in place between the department and the NGOs to
monitor implementation of the scoping exercises undertaken by the coordinators?

The non-government organisations appointed through tender to manage the
programs and services at the child and parent centres used their own human
resource management processes to select and appoint the coordinators into
positions. The non-government organisations were not required to follow any
particular process, including any particular consultation process; however, they
were strongly recommended to consult with and involve school leaders in the
appointment of the coordinators. School leaders were consulted in each case.
(4) Requirements
are outlined in the service agreement and include bi-annual reporting through
child and parent centre local advisory committees chaired by host school
principals, through to the steering committee and directors-general group. This
includes monitoring of scoping activity.
