(1) What is the process when negotiating with property owners for High Voltage Transmission (HVT) power lines to pass through their property? (2) What is the policy for any form of annual payment, or compensation, for landowners who are proposed to have HVT power lines on their property? (3) Do property owners who have HVT power lines on their property now receive any annual payment, or form of compensation, and if so what is it and how was it determined?

(1) When considering a potential transmission line route corridor Western Power seeks community and stakeholder input. It also takes into account relevant economic, social and environmental considerations. Once a line corridor has been selected Western Power officers meet with affected land owners to discuss structure placement and individual considerations.
(2) & (3) Land owners who would be affected by high voltage power lines on their property are compensated in accordance with the
Energy Operators (Powers) Act 1979
and the
Land Administration Act 1997
provisions. Compensation is made in the form of a one-off payment.
