I refer to a Labor Party document titled “direction statement drugs and crime”. Under the heading “policing and penalties” it states - There is a widely held view that large scale drug dealers are operating virtually uninhibited by an under-resourced and over-stretched Police Service. The following recommendations seek to address that issue: . . . The WA Police Service develop an explicit set of performance indicators for drug law enforcement and annually report on performance against those indicators. This would include the development of a set of performance indicators, benchmarks, delivery standards and program evaluation as part of an overall assessment of strategies for reducing drug related crime. (1) Has this recommendation been carried out; and, if so, how and when? (2) What are the explicit set of performance indicators? (3) When will the first annual report be available? (4) How has this assisted so far in reducing drug-related crime, taking into account the ongoing heroin drought? Hon NICK GRIFFITHS

I thank the member for some notice of this question. The Minister for Police and Emergency Services has provided the following response - (1)-(4) The Western Australia Police Service advises that the quality and input of drug clearances and clearance targets are included in its internal annual business plan. For more information I direct the honourable member to the Police Service’s annual report, annual business plans and the parliamentary quarterly crime reports on drug incidents and clearances.
