(a) Tourism Western Australia provided sponsorship of $130,000 to support production costs for the filming of MasterChef in WA.
(b) The return on investment is conservatively valued at $9 million in Estimated Advertising Value.
(c) (i - iii) Tourism Western Australia participated in the MasterChef marketing opportunity based on increasing awareness of the State. This exposure was invaluable; more than six million Australians watched the three episodes and the series is now being scheduled for airing in multiple international markets.
The media impact alone, as stated above, was conservatively valued at $9 million in Estimated Advertising Value. It is expected that economic outcomes will be delivered over an extended length of time as consumers make bookings as a result of the show. Anecdotally, some operators in the Margaret River region have reported a busier than usual winter season and have attributed this to MasterChef.
