METRONET — MORLEY–ELLENBROOK
RAIL LINE — TONKIN HIGHWAY GAP PROJECT
839. Hon MICHAEL MISCHIN to the minister representing the
Minister for Transport:
I refer to the Tonkin Highway gap
project.
(1) Has a business case been
prepared for this project?
(2) If yes to
(1), will the minister table the business case; and, if the minister will not
table the business case, why not?
(3) Does the project include
additional work required to support the Morley–Ellenbrook train line?
(4) If yes to (3), what is the
additional work required as a result of the Morley–Ellenbrook train
line?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) Yes, a draft business case has
been prepared.
(2) The business
case is currently under transport portfolio review and will be submitted for
consideration by Infrastructure Australia.
Consideration can be given to tabling the business case once that process is
complete.
(3) It is planned
that the Tonkin gap delivery contract will include additional work for the
Morley–Ellenbrook line project.
(4) Works within
the Tonkin Highway corridor, north of the Tonkin gap project, have been provisionally allowed for as part of the Tonkin gap
delivery contract to support the proposed Morley–Ellenbrook rail line.
