FIONA STANLEY HOSPITAL — TREASURER'S
COMMENTS
14. Mr R.H. COOK to the
Minister for Health:
I have a supplementary question. Does the minister take
personal responsibility for what the Treasurer describes as ''significant
failures by the Department of Health'', yes or no?

AnswerView source ↗

Yes, I take personal responsibility for anything to do with
the management of the health system.
Mr M.P. Murray interjected.
Dr K.D. HAMES : I
know why you have got that plug in your ear; it says, ''Breathe in,
breathe out''!
Mr M.P. Murray :
You're weak as piss!
Withdrawal of Remark
The
SPEAKER : Member for Collie–Preston, withdraw that statement,
please.
Mr P.B. Watson : He
has it in there because he cannot hear.
The SPEAKER : Just
hold it a minute! If you said what you said, please withdraw it.
Mr
M.P. Murray : I can't hear; I have a plug in my ear!
Mrs
M.H. ROBERTS : I just want to query whether the Minister for Health's
comment was in order, given that the member for Collie–Preston is
wearing a hearing aid. He has a disability and perhaps, Mr Speaker, you might
consider whether the minister's comments were appropriate as well.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : I do
not want any more noise.
Dr
K.D. HAMES : Mr Speaker, I was not aware that it was a hearing aid. I
thought the member for Collie–Preston was just linked up to his computer.
I apologise for that comment.
The SPEAKER : That
has cleared that one up.
