I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) It is anticipated that the discussion paper will be
released early in 2013.
(2) A consultation period of three months is planned.
(3) The
review will examine the Motor Vehicle Dealers Act 1973 and the Motor Vehicle
Repairers Act 2003. Given the synergies between the motor vehicle dealers and
repairers industries, the review will examine both acts concurrently.
(4) The
review will be undertaken by the Consumer Protection Division of the Department
of Commerce.
