Since May 2011 for each Government Department or Agency under the Minister’s control, including the Ministerial Office, I ask:
(a) are media monitoring services provided, and if yes:
(i) which firm or firms currently provide a media monitoring service;
(b) what is the cost of the contract/s;
(c) since 1 June 2010 how much has been paid for media monitoring services;
(d) what is the duration of the contract/s; and
(e) when did the contract/s commence?

Ministerial Office
(a-e) Department of the Premier and Cabinet provides media monitoring services to Ministerial Offices through the Media Monitoring Unit of the Media Office.
Department of Commerce
(a) Yes, media monitoring services are provided to the department's six operating divisions which are Building Commission; Consumer Protection; Energy
Safety
; Labour Relations; Industry, Science and Innovation: and WorkSafe.
(i) Media Monitors Pty Ltd provides the monitoring services.
(b) It is estimated that for a period of one year the value will be $90,422 for all divisions.
(c)Since 1 June 2010, $150,906 has been paid for media monitoring services. This amount includes $36,131 for Industry, Science and Innovation Division which is also reported under separately under question on notice 6781.
(d) The duration of the contract is for one year with yearly options for four consecutive years.
(e) The contract commenced on 20 December 2010.

(a) Yes
(i) Media monitoring services are provided by Media Monitors Pty Ltd, with alerts and bulletins from the Media Monitoring Unit (MMU) of the Government Media Office (GMO).
(b) The cost of the contract with Media Monitors is $442.37 per month (GST included) plus a charge per press clip and per broadcast summary for both metropolitan and regional broadcast. There is no cost for the service from the GMO.
(c) For the period 1 June 2010 to 1 November 2011, $16,172.58 has been paid. (No payments have been made to the MMU or the GMO).
(d) The contract remains in force until revoked in writing by the SBDC to Media Monitors.
