INDONESIA VISIT
63. Mr W.J. JOHNSTON to the
Premier:
I refer to the media coverage arising from the Premier's
visit to Indonesia last year.
(1) Has he
been made aware of the column by Yacinta Kurniasih in the Jakarta Globe regarding his contribution to the relationship with
Indonesia?
(2) Does he
agree with Dr Yacinta's view that ''Colin Barnett represents the
outdated view belonging to a generation who should no longer exist in Australia''?

It might astound the house to know that I have absolutely no idea who Dr Yacinta
is. Who is this guy?
Several members interjected.
Mr C.J. BARNETT : I
can hardly respond to a question about a person I have never heard of, an
article I have never seen —
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Members! Member for Willagee!
Mr C.J. BARNETT : I
am spellbound by the quality of research that the opposition engages in. It is
ridiculous. Last sitting day, I was asked a question about something I had not
said, and now we have got an article from a Dr Yacinta. It is bizarre!
Actually, I had a very good visit to Indonesia, and I think we will do some
very good work there.
Several members interjected.
Mr C.J. BARNETT :
What is the member for Cannington's point? Does he actually have a question?
If the member for Cannington wants to send me a copy of Dr Yacinta's
article, I will read it, but this is just nonsense. Do some work!
