STATE OF THE ENVIRONMENT
REPORT
102. Hon DIANE EVERS to the Minister for Environment:
(1) When was the last state of the
environment report for Western Australia completed?
(2) Has the
government prepared and implemented a response to the recommendations in the
most recent report? If yes, when was that response published; and, if not, why
not?
(3) Is the
minister aware that every other Australian state carries out regular state of
the environment reporting on a three to five-year cycle?
(4) When will the next state of the
environment report for Western Australia be released?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) In 2007.
(2) There are no records of a government-prepared
response to the 2007 report.
(3)–(4) I
am aware that other jurisdictions undertake varying levels of state of the
environment reporting. Since 2013, the Environmental Protection Authority has
reported annually, and provides a yearly examination of the environment of Western
Australia, which allows a timely and contemporary approach to environment
trends and issues. The Environmental Protection Authority report for 2017–18
was published in October 2018.
