KENWICK TRAIN STATION — UPGRADES
329. Hon SAMANTHA ROWE to the
parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Transport:
I refer to the closure of Kenwick train station for the
period of upgrade works.
(1) What date was the Kenwick train station closed to
commuters for the commencement of works?
(2) When were commuters first notified of the closure date by
signage at the train station?
(3) Were commuters notified of the closure date by any means
other than signage?

On behalf of the parliamentary secretary representing the
Minister for Transport, I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1) The Kenwick station was closed on 31 March 2014.
(2) The
project signage board describing the works was installed on 21 February 2014.
Signage advising of the closure with a general date of ''end March 2014''
was installed on 24 February 2014 on the Kenwick station's platforms
and entries. The signage was updated, advising the specific date of the closure
on 14 March 2014.
(3) Yes. The
Transperth website was updated, advising of the closure with a general date of ''end
March 2014'' on 14 February 2014. The website was further updated on 13 March
2014 with the specific date of 3l March 2014. A TravelEasy email was sent with
the 31 March 2014 closure date on 17 March 2014. The general closure date of ''end
March 2014'' was tweeted on Transperth's Twitter account on 14 February
2014 and a reminder was sent on the day of the closure, 31 March 2014. A direct
mail-out to local businesses, schools and residents occurred on 13 February
2014 advising of the general closure date of ''end of March 2014''.
The Public Transport Authority website was updated with information about the
station closure in mid-February 2014 with a general date of ''end March
2014''. This information was updated in mid-March 2014 with a specific
date of 3l March 2014. A media release was issued by the Public Transport
Authority on 12 March 2014 with a closure date of 31 March 2014 and a media
release was also issued by the minister's office on 25 February 2014,
advising that works will begin in March 2014.
