BUNBURY HARVEY REGIONAL
COUNCIL WASTE FACILITY
1091. Hon BEN DAWKINS to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Local Government:
I
refer the minister to appendix 5 of the Financial audit results: Local
government 2021–22 produced by the Office of the Auditor General.
(1) How much of
ratepayers' money has been spent or committed on the Bunbury Harvey
Regional Council waste facility since January last year?
(2) Will the
minister intervene to prevent the City of Bunbury and Shire of Harvey councils
continuing to pour millions of dollars from ratepayers into the waste facility,
given that the audit questions the solvency of the organisation; and, if not,
why not?
(3) Given the
state's multibillion-dollar surplus, will the minister support taking
over management of waste facilities from rural regional councils; and, if not,
why not?

(1) Specific
questions about the expenditure or liability of each local government should be
directed to the relevant local government.
(2)–(3) The
management of waste facilities operated by a local government is the
responsibility of that local government.
