I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) I table the
Department of Water and Environmental Regulation report, ''Cleanaway
Materials Recovery Facility Fire Hyne Road, South Guildford 25/11/19'',
which includes the results of monitoring undertaken by the department.
[See paper 4122 .]
(2) The
Department of Water and Environmental Regulation has advised that the majority
of the solid waste was sent to a licensed landfill facility.
(3) The material
was transported to a licensed liquid waste treatment facility or disposed of in
the Water Corporation's sewer. Further details are available in the
tabled report.
(4) I am advised that the Department of Fire and
Emergency Services has completed its investigation into the cause of the fire.
I am aware that DWER is continuing to investigate whether there are any
breaches of environmental legislation
as a result of the fire. In addition, the department has also commenced, in
conjunction with DFES , a fire pollution and prevention strategy to
reduce the risk of fires at material recycling facilities.
