JOBS — 2018–19 STATE BUDGET
537. Mrs L.M. HARVEY to the Premier:
I have a supplementary question.
Given that the Premier is 30 000 jobs short, when will he admit that his plan
for jobs has been an abject failure?

I
do not think the member is getting the maths. Since we have been in office,
which has been a little over two years , 40 000 additional jobs have been
created in Western Australia. That compares with 25 000 jobs lost over the last
term of the previous government. We have a very high participation rate in Western
Australia, and we have a government that is focused on attracting investment
and creating jobs in this state. Every single day, people can see initiatives
that the government is taking to achieve that outcome. I attended a very good
event this morning in Joondalup. The Deputy Leader of the Opposition—the
bodyguard sitting next to the Leader of the Opposition—was there and he
saw a very positive group of businesspeople in Joondalup observing that event.
As I outline every single day in
this house, there are lots of initiatives designed to get Western Australia back
on track, we have secured more federal government funding for major projects
than ever before, a range of major projects are occurring across Western Australia,
we have a huge number of initiatives to diversify the state's economy
and we have created 40 000 jobs since we have been in office.
