MEMBER FOR VASSE — ROAD TRAFFIC INCIDENT
312. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Premier:
I ask a supplementary question. Is
this not just further evidence that the Premier has no standards in government;
and is the Minister for Corrective Services not correct?

AnswerView source ↗

This government will be judged on its standards by the
electors of Western Australia. While the Leader of the Opposition continues in
his attacks on the member for Vasse by various means, such as —
Mr M. McGowan : It
is an attack on you!
Mr C.J. BARNETT :
The Leader of the Opposition can go for me if he wants to, but he did not do
that today, did he? The Leader of the Opposition can continue to do that if he
wishes; he can continue. What the Leader of the Opposition has initiated today
is a race to the bottom, and he has continued that through this question time.
When we talk about standards, may I remind members that the member for Vasse is
no longer a member of cabinet. I stress that he resigned, in a conversation
with me, about two weeks after that incident. So there is a big penalty there.
He resigned. He gave up his cabinet position. That is a high standard.
