(1) Fare checking occurs continuously during train operations across all metropolitan rail lines. In addition, there are targeted fare checking operations known as barrier checks. These are conducted in addition to normal fare checking procedures and are conducted at individual stations during week days.
The number of PTA officers deployed for barrier checks will range between four and 14 officers depending on the station layout, the expected number of passengers and the number of employees rostered and available for duty.
