The Minister for Environment has provided the following response:
(1) The WA Department of Health (DoH) has a Statewide charter to ensure the protection of the public from mosquito-borne disease. The Mosquito Control Advisory Committee oversees the provision of DoH funding to local government authorities. The Committee includes representatives from DoH, Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC), Department for Planning and Infrastructure, Peel Development Commission, Arbovirus Surveillance Laboratory (University of Western Australia) and metropolitan and non-metropolitan members of the WA Local Government Association.
DEC advises that it does not have a role in the on-ground management of mosquito control in Western Australia.  However, DEC has and will continue to work with local government and DoH to assist in the implementation of mosquito control in the Peel region as the need arises.
