I refer to question on notice No. 978 of November 25 1999 and answers provided -
(1) Has the Department formerly known as the Department of Minerals and Energy, provided incorrect and misleading information with the answer to part (1) of the question given that the first letter dated September 9 1998 with attached enclosures was sent Express Post (label number BW0423656), and the second letter dated September 12 1998 with attached enclosures was sent to the Department by Ansett Air Freight (Consignment note - C172308M) and signed for as being received?
(2) If not, why not?
(3) If yes to (1), will the Department make a written apology to Mr John Baker?
(4) Can the Minister explain how two separate detailed letters both addressed to Jim Torlach, State Mining Engineer dated September 9 1998 and September 12 1998 both with attached enclosures sent by two completely different mail couriers, were according to the Department not received?
(5) If not, why not?
(6) Can the Minister explain why it took over two months for the Department to write back to Mr John Baker in a letter dated March 12 1999 despite receiving letters dated January 11 1999 and January 29 1999?
(7) If no to (6), why not?
