Public Sector Commission advises:
The most recent available FTE data is for September 2011. The Aboriginal employment FTE figure for September 2011 was 1,881. This figure relies on employee self-identification through agency staff surveys. The size of the combined survey sample for the public sector is 69,389 which indicated an FTE percentage of2.7%.
It should be noted that the FTE employment data for Indigenous Australians reported here does not include seven Public Sector Management Act 1994 Schedule 1 entities (Western Power, Horizon Power, Verve Energy, Synergy, Water Corporation, Gold Corporation, and Racing and Wagering WA). Indigenous employment data for these entities are only available in headcount, not as FTE.
Sector-wide Indigenous employment information is routinely collected through agency staff surveys as head count and not as FTE. The Director of Equal Opportunity in Public Employment (DEOPE) prepares an Annual Report which is tabled in Parliament and is publicly available via the PSC website. Reported headcount figures cover a range of Indigenous employment outcomes and is considered to more complete. The reports of the DEOPE cover all public authorities including the public sector and Government Trading Enterprises. DEOPE reports also cover Indigenous employment outcomes across the Local Government sector and for public universities.
