I refer to the Project Proposal Submission
for Balmoral South Iron Ore Project, and specifically to the comments by the
Minister on the 10 June where the Minister refers to his assumption that ‘the
Department would have received advice’ and ask: (a) did the Department receive any advice from external
consultants; (b) did the Minister receive
any advice from external consultants; (c)
did Mr Geoffrey Wedgewood give any advice on this matter; and (d) was any work performed by consultants on this
matter prior to the Department issuing its recommendation?

The Department of State Development advises:
(a)-(b) and (d) No. The Department liaised with other relevant departments and the State Solicitors Office
(c) The Department briefed Mr Wedgewood on this matter.
