I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1)-(3) The ministerial task force that was appointed to consider the implementation of the outcomes and standards framework in years 11 and 12 made a number of recommendations that require a new focus on the implementation of changes in years 11 and 12. These recommendations involve a significant change in the approach previously taken by the Curriculum Council. Given Mr Robson’s role as chair of the year 11 and 12 implementation task force, it was considered that he is in the best position to ensure implementation of the recommendation over the next crucial months leading to the introduction of three new courses of study in 2005. In the context of the above, the office of the Minister for Education and Training advised the director general of the Department of the Premier and Cabinet of the need for change and he, under his delegated powers, took action to facilitate this. In the course of this process, in accordance with section 50 of the Public Sector Management Act 1994, the Premier, as Minister for Public Sector Management, will be recommending to the Governor that Mrs Jeffery be transferred from the office of chief executive officer Curriculum Council to the performance of other functions in the senior executive service. The chair of the Curriculum Council, the Minister for Education and Training and Mrs Jeffery have been consulted.
