520. Hon MARTIN ALDRIDGE to the Minister for Emergency
Services:
I refer to the Kimberley flood
recovery.
(1) In the Kimberley floods in
January this year, how many homes were —
(a) damaged; or
(b) destroyed?
(2) How many people currently
remain displaced and unable to return home?
(3) How many people have received the Premier's
$1 000 relief payment for clothing, tools, and household goods?
(4) Please
provide a breakdown of the funding and support programs which have been made
available by the state and federal governments following this flooding event?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1) (a) One
hundred and fifty-five homes were damaged.
(b) Thirty-four
homes were destroyed.
(2) The Department of Communities has advised the
Department of Fire and Emergency Services that 91 people remain
displaced and are in temporary accommodation arrangements until their homes are
deemed safe to return to.
(3) At this stage 142 people have received the Premier's
relief payment.
(4) In
response to the Kimberley floods the state and federal governments have aided
impacted communities through the provision of a number of programs that will be
disclosed in the budget papers—this answer is from 10 May. I have been
provided with a list and seek leave to have it incorporated into Hansard .
