PLANNING —
LOCAL PLANNING SCHEMES
642. Hon ROBIN CHAPPLE to the
minister representing the Minister for Planning:
(1) Is it
permitted for a local planning scheme to be developed on the basis of a draft
local planning strategy that is out for public comment?
(2) If no to (1), why not?
(3) If yes, what is the basis for modifying the scheme if the
strategy is modified?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2) Not applicable.
(3) If a local
planning strategy is modified, it would be appropriate for the corresponding
scheme to also be modified by the local government. The Minister for Planning
will give consideration to granting final approval to the local planning scheme
only once the local planning strategy has been finalised and endorsed by the
Western Australian Planning Commission.
