I refer the minister to the Hooker inquiry announced yesterday into the great escape. (1) Will Mr Hooker investigate why large sums of money are currently being spent by the Department of Justice on the internal refurbishment of the offices and library of the Supreme Court for the new court of appeal when the Bill has not yet come to this House, rather than being spent on urgent security requirements of the building? (2) Will the minister ensure that the department ceases work immediately on the refurbishments and have the money redirected to the priority area of security? Mrs M.H. ROBERTS

(1)-(2) Plenty of money is available in the budget to apply to the security. There is no issue regarding money being available for security needs. The money is there. It is in the budget and the Government is dealing with the issue appropriately. Mr Hooker will be able to deal with the entire situation concerning why the nine prisoners escaped, and so forth.
