Main Roads—Road maintenance
947. Hon Steve Martin to
the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister
for Transport:
I refer to the Main
Roads state road network maintenance program.
(1) What is the most recent Main Roads estimate of
the cost of all overdue resurfacing work, the cost of all overdue road
rebuilding and the cost of all overdue work to fix bridges?
(2) In relation to (1), on what date or dates was
each figure calculated?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question and provide the following answer on behalf of the Minister for
Transport.
(1)–(2) Main Roads manages an extensive
road network, overseeing approximately 18,000 kilometres of state roads,
including highways and freeways. Main Roads delivers capital works, asset
management and maintenance programs relating to road infrastructure through a
variety of delivery options to provide effective and efficient delivery. Maintenance
across the network is prioritised based on several factors, including crash statistics,
road maintenance intervention parameters, traffic data, road usage, reducing mobilisation,
improving efficiency and the condition of the road. Due to the number of
regions and projects underway across the state I ask that the remainder of this
question be placed on notice.
