RECREATIONAL FISHING FEES — DINGHY HIRE
I refer the minister to the recently announced recreational fishing boat licence fees. Will a $30 recreational boat fishing licence be required for a three-hour dinghy hire for fishing and/or crabbing or would the $15 charter ticket—fishing from charter boats—apply? Hon NORMAN MOORE

I thank the member for some notice of this question. I assume from the honourable member’s question that he is referring to dinghies for hire, not the use of a boat that is part of a fishing tour operator’s business. In the case in which a dingy is hired—for example, in Mandurah—for fishing for either fish or crabs, and the dinghy is a registered vessel, the $30 annual boat fishing licence will apply to those individuals who wish to fish under their own bag limit. I ask the member to note that any person can fish on that boat free of charge if they are fishing with a licensed person and stay within the licensed person’s boat limit.
