A WA parliamentary question on notice seeks details about a meeting attended by the Treasurer, including the nature of a fundraising auction prize, the capacity of an attendee, and the Treasurer's awareness of other attendees' business interests. I refer to the Treasurer's response to Question on Notice No. 6982 regarding contact with Mr Dean Smith or a representative of Mr Dean Smith's company, and in relation to the nature or subject of discussion at the 10 March 2011 contact, I ask:
(a) what was the address and venue of the contact;
(b) was the nature of the Fundraising Auction Prize a prize resulting from a monetary contribution to a Liberal Party campaign or to a Liberal Party Member of Parliament; and
(i) if so, which Liberal Party campaign or Liberal Party Member of Parliament benefitted from the monetary contribution; and
(ii) if not, which organization was the fundraising auction prize contributing to;
(c) is the Treasurer clear or unclear whether Ms Fay Duda was in attendance in an exclusively private capacity, or was in attendance on behalf of clients; and
(d) was the Treasurer aware, or made aware during the contact, of the business interests of the other persons present, namely Paul Bennett Wright, Robert Horninge and Chris Williams?

(a) - (b)(ii)
Full details of any political donations are the business of the Liberal Party and are required to be disclosed to the Electoral Commissioner by 30 November each year setting out details of all gifts and other incomes received by the party during the previous financial year. Full details of any events that are for political fundraising will be contained in this submission.
(c)
I was not informed whether or not Ms Duda was in attendance in an exclusively private capacity or was there representing clients. However, Ms Duda did not discuss anything related to Government business with me at the event.
(d)
During informal introductions and conversation the gentlemen mentioned would have informed me of their occupations, as would most people when introducing themselves and conversing at such an event. None of those in attendance discussed anything related to government business with me at the event.
