FIONA
STANLEY HOSPITAL — CLEANING AUDITS
569. Hon AMBER-JADE SANDERSON to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the cleaning audits on patient rooms at Fiona
Stanley Hospital.
(1) Are checks carried out at Fiona Stanley Hospital for
pre-micro bacteria in patient and other rooms?
(2) Are
randomised cleaning inspections carried out on patient and other rooms at Fiona
Stanley Hospital?
(3) If yes to (1) or (2), how often and what are the results
of those audits received to date?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the
question.
(1) Cleaning
is done regularly to ensure the cleanliness of patients' rooms and
other rooms. Fiona Stanley Hospital's infection prevention and
management team undertakes testing in the event of an outbreak situation. Such
a situation has not occurred at Fiona Stanley Hospital to date.
(2) Yes, audits
are undertaken by the cleaning team as part of the Fiona Stanley Hospital
cleaning service.
(3) Between 1 600
and 2 000 audits are undertaken each month. These have a pass rate of between
95 and 98 per cent at Fiona Stanley Hospital. These audits are conducted to
standards outlined in the Victorian cleaning standards, with the frequency
based on the criticality of the area—for example, theatres being the
highest and office areas being the lowest.
